A 34-year-old man named Nnamdi Ethelbert Ogidi has been arrested by men of the Nigerian Police for kidnapping and raping old women in Imo State. He was apprehended on May 23, while negotiating a N20 million ransom for a victim, 74-year-old Regina Nkwocha. The suspect, popularly known as Bori, reportedly told the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the state police command, that his gang had kidnapped many persons, including 15 old women. The police were unable to arrest other members of the gang as they ran away. According reports, he said; “I am from Imo state and after dropping out of senior secondary school, I learnt how to become a mechanic. Along the line I met bad friends who initiated me into the deadly cult group known as Debam fraternity. Most of them were into one bad thing or the other, so it was easy for me to join a gang of kidnappers who are also members of the cult.
